Hawa Mahal is a palace located in the city of Jaipur, India. It was named Hawa Mahal because it has high walls for women in the palace so that they can easily observe and see the festival happening outside the palace. This palace is made of red and pink sandstone. The palace is situated on the edge of the City Palace.
हवा महल भारत के जयपुर शहर में स्थित एक महल है। इसका नाम हवा महल इसलिये रखा गया क्योकि महल में महिलाओ के लिये ऊँची दीवारे बनी हुई है ताकि वे आसानी से महल के बाहर हो रहे उत्सवो का अवलोकन कर सके और उन्हें देख सके। यह महल लाल और गुलाबी बलुआ पत्थरो से बना हुआ है। यह महल सिटी पैलेस के किनारे पर ही बना हुआ है।
This Hawa Mahal was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. It was designed by Lal Chand Ustad as the crown of the Hindu god Krishna. This Hawa Mahal also has honeycomb of the same size outside the five-storey building and the palace also has 953 small windows called Jharokhas and these jharokhas are also decorated with very fine artifacts. And all these windows have different colored glass.
इस हवा महल का निर्माण 1799 में महाराजा सवाई प्रताप सिंह ने करवाया था। हिन्दू भगवान कृष्णा के मुकुट के रूप में ही लाल चंद उस्ताद ने इसे डिज़ाइन किया था। इस हवा महल में पाँच मंजिला ईमारत के बाहर समान आकर के शहद के छत्ते भी लगे हुए है और महल में 953 छोटी खिड़कियां भी है जिन्हें झरोखा कहा जाता है और इन झरोखो को बहुत ही बारीक़ कलाकृतियों से सजाया भी गया है। और इन सभी खिडकियों में अलग-अलग रंग के कांच लगे हुए है।

एक समय था जब महिलाये महल से बाहर किसी उत्सव को देखने निकला करती थी तो उस समय महिलाओ को चेहरे पर “परदा” ढकना अनिवार्य होता था। कहा जाता है की इन जालियों की मदद से उन्हें चेहरे को ठंडी हवा भी लगती थी और तपती धुप में भी उनका चेहरा ठंडा रहता था। इस महल में महिलाओ के लिये ऊँची दीवारे बनी हुई है ताकि वे आसानी से महल के बाहर हो रहे उत्सवो का अवलोकन कर सके और उन्हें देख सके। इस महल में 953 छोटी खिड़कियां है जिन्हें बाहर से देखना नामुंकिन है।
