यह कहानी है उर्वशी और पुरूरवा की। यह प्यार, जुनून, ईर्ष्या और जुदाई की कहानी है।

उर्वशी स्वर्ग में रहने वाली एक सुन्दर अप्सरा थी। और पुरूरवा धरती पर रहने वाला एक बहादुर राजा था। पुरूरवा के बहादुरी के किस्से धरती से लेकर स्वर्ग तक प्रसिद्ध थे। एक दिन की बात है स्वर्ग में पुरूरवा के बहादुरी की बातें हो रही थी। इत्तेफाक से उर्वशी भी उसी समय वंही पर थी। जब उर्वशी ने पुरूरवा के बहादुरी के किस्से सुने तो उसे यकीन नहीं हुआ।

एक दिन की बात है एक बार जब उर्वशी स्वर्ग में इन्द्र के दरबार में बोर हो रही थी। उर्वशी ने कुछ अलग करने के लिए पृथ्वी पर उतरने का निर्णय लिया। उसे स्वर्ग के बजाय पृथ्वी की सुख-दुख से भरी जिंदगी ज्यादा अच्छी लगी थी। उर्वशी रात के अंधेरे में पृथ्वी पर आई और पृथ्वी पर घूमने लगी। पृथ्वी से वापस लौटते समय उसे किसी असुर ने पकड़ लिया। किसी तरह उर्वशी असुर से बच निकली और अपनी जान बचाते हुए एक महल में जा पहुँची। इस महल का राजा पुरूरवा था। असुर उर्वशी का पीछा करता हुआ किसी तरह महल तक पहुँच गया। अपने पीछे असुर को महल में आते देखकर उर्वशी महल के बगीचों में जा छिपी।

राक्षस उसे महल में ढूंढ़ने लगा। ढूंढ़ते-ढूंढ़ते राक्षस महल के उस कक्ष तक पहुँच गया जहाँ पुरूरवा सोया हुआ था।जैसे ही राक्षस पुरूरवा के कक्ष के पास से गुजरा। पुरूरवा को एक बहुत ही गन्दी गंध आई और पुरूरवा जाग गया। जागते ही पुरूरवा ने अपने आस-पास देखना शुरू कर दिया तभी अचानक से उसे महल में घूमती हुई एक परछाई दिखाई दी। परछाई को देखकर पुरूरवा अपनी तलवार लेकर परछाई पीछे चल दिया, किसी तरह राक्षस उर्वशी ढूंढ लिया और उसे पकड़कर अपने साथ ले जाने लगा।

परछाई का पीछा करते हुए पुरूरवा उर्वशी के पास जा पहुँचा, और उसने देखा की एक राक्षस किसी लड़की को उठा ले जा रहा है, पुरूरवा ने उस राक्षस का पीछा कर उसके चंगुल से उर्वशी को छुडवा दिया। तभी उसी समय उन दोनों के शरीर एक दूसरे से टच हुये और उनकी इस स्पर्श ने उनकी जिंदगी बदल दी। पहली बार उर्वशी को किसी नश्वर मनुष्य ने छुआ था और इस स्पर्श ने उसका मन मोह लिया। इसी तरह पुरूरवा का भी अप्सरा के प्रति आकर्षण हो गया। फिर भी वे दोनों अंजान थे कि एक दूसरे के मन में क्या है।

Urvashi did not care about this curse and she was crazy in her love. And here, Pururwa too was restless in the imagination of Urvashi. He was also disappointed because his wife could not give birth to a child. At that time Urvashi came to Earth for Pururwa and they expressed their love for each other.
एक समय बात है। एक दिन स्वर्ग में एक नाटक के दौरान उर्वशी देवी लक्ष्मी की भूमिका निभा रही थी और उसने पुरुषोतम (विष्णु का नाम) के बजाय पुरुरवा का नाम लिया। इससे इस नाटक को कराने वाले ऋषि भरत नाराज हो गए और उन्होने उर्वशी को श्राप दे दिया कि वह एक नश्वर मनुष्य के प्यार के पागल है इसलिए उसे पृथ्वी पर जाकर उसके साथ रहना होगा और उसके बच्चे को पैदा करना होगा, जो कि अप्सराओं के लिए एक नई बात थी। उर्वशी को इस श्राप की कोई परवाह नहीं थी और वह उसके प्यार में पागल रही। और इधर पुरुरवा भी उर्वशी की कल्पना में बेचैन रहने लगा। वह इसलिए भी निराश था क्यों कि उसकी पत्नी बच्चे को जन्म नहीं दे सकती थी। उस समय उर्वशी पुरुरवा के लिए पृथ्वी पर आई और उन्होने एक दूसरे को अपने प्यार का इजहार किया।

उर्वशी अपना जीवन पुरुरवा के साथ बिताने को तैयार हो गई। लेकिन उसकी कुछ शर्तें थी। पहली तो यह कि वह दो बकरियाँ लेकर आएगी और राजा को उनकी देखभाल करनी होगी। दूसरी शर्त है कि जब तक वो पृथ्वी पर रहेगी तब तक वो केवल घी का ही सेवन करेगी। तीसरी यह कि वे एक दूसरे को नग्नावस्था में केवन यौन संबंध बनाते समय ही देखेंगे। जिस दिन उसकी शर्तें नहीं मानी गई वह उसे छोडकर वापस स्वर्ग चली जाएगी। पुरुरवा ने ये शर्तें मान ली और वे दोनों एक साथ गंधमदन गार्डन में रहने लगे।

दूसरी ओर उन दोनों के प्यार से देवताओं को ईर्ष्या होने लगी। उर्वशी के बिना स्वर्ग सूना सा था। इसलिए उन्होने उसे पाने के लिए एक जाल बिछाया। एक रात को गन्धर्वों ने उर्वशी की बकरियाँ चुरा ली। जब बकरियों ने मिमियाना शुरू किया तो उर्वशी को चिंता हुई और उसने पुरुरवा को उन्हें बचाने के लिए कहा। उस समय पुरुरवा ने कुछ भी नहीं पहना हुआ था वह जल्दी में निकल गया। तब तुरंत ही गन्धर्वों ने उसी समय आसमान में बिजली कड़कड़ा दी, इससे उन दोनों ने एक दूसरे को नग्नावस्था में देख लिया।
Third condition broke-तीसरी शर्त टूट गई
When the third condition broke, Urvashi had to go to heaven. With a heavy heart, he left the king and the king also broke without him. At this time Urvashi was the child of Purvari in the womb. Later, he called near Kurukshetra to hand over his child to Purarva. जब तीसरी शर्त टूट गई तो उर्वशी को स्वर्ग जाना था। भारी मन के साथ उसने राजा को छोड़ दिया और राजा भी उसके बिना टूट गया। इस समय उर्वशी के पेट में पुरुरवा का बच्चा था। बाद में उसने अपने बच्चे को पुरुरवा को सौंपने के लिए कुरुक्षेत्र के निकट बुलाया। हालांकि बाद के काल में भी उर्वशी कई घटनाक्रम की वजह से धरती पर आईं और पुरुरवा से मिलती रही जिसके चलते उनके और भी बहुत बच्चे हुए।
